Non Ferrous Metals

Non Ferrous metals are those metals which do not contain iron . They are not magnetic and are generally more resistant to corrosion than ferrous metals. Most commonly used non ferrous metals are Aluminum, Copper, Brass, Lead, Tin, Gilding Metal and Zinc.

Dry Bright White

Stripped copper cable not burnt or flared and without tinned ends. Not greasy.

Greasy Bright

As above but with the Vaseline type coating.

Heavy Copper

Predominately made up of copper piping including painted and yorkshire fittings, i.e. 98% copper.

No 2 Copper

Burnt and lacquered wire.

Braziery

Mixed copper and brass appliances. Brass content no more than 30%.

Cooper Tanks

Household hot water cylinders. Free of lagging and lime scale.

Compo

Copper and brass car radiators free of steel and plastic.

Brass

All brass objects including plumbers brass, free from steel, lead and soldier joints.

Gun Metal

Clean commercial gunmetal free from iron and brass fittings.

Lead

Soft lead free bitumen and steel. Not to include battery plates

Batteries

Wet or dry car and commercial.

Aluminum

All grades to be totally free from steel and maximum size of 1.8m x 1.2m.

Aluminum Turnings

Free from steel and other metals. Maximum moisture content 10%.

Pyro

Covered and cleaned.

Stainless Steel

Free from steel. Maximum size 1.5m x 0.60m.

Resmelt

Irony aluminum, to exclude carburetors and zinc based alloys.

Zinc

Clean commercial zinc free of steel.

Elements

Copper elements free from brass. Nickel elements not included under this grade.

Household Wire

Electrical household cable pvc or rubber covered but not including armoured cable which will be treated separately.
