Mellor Metals requires suitable identification from all scrap metal suppliers before we can complete any transaction.
All you need is photo ID & address ID (preferably a photo card driving license) and bank details (account number & sort code) for a faster payment straight into your bank account.
When you visit our site in Attleborough, Norfolk, we will need to check these documents before agreeing and finalising any sale.
Unfortunately, you will be unable to leave your metal with us.

Yes, with the Covid pandemic we are currently booking customers in for appointments to ensure the safety of our staff and visitors. You can book an appointment on this website, on our app or you can call us in the office.
No. It is illegal to buy scrap metal with cash since the Scrap Metal Dealers Act came into force in 2013. Payment is made straight to your bank account.
To transfer money into your bank account, we need the name on the account, sort code and account number. Using your name on someone else’s account will not work as the payment will bounce back.
We require the ID for whose bank account the payment is going to.
If possible, the logbook is useful for us to identify the vehicle and to deregister it online with DVLA to produce a Certificate of Destruction. If you do not have a logbook, we should be able to identify the vehicle from the VIN Chassis number and the registration plate.
We do not collect household scrap, however, we are able to pass on your details to a trusted scrap metal collector that we know to collect this for you.
We assist all of our customers and use our equipment and machinery to offload your scrap where we can.
