Mellor Metals' Own Shane Mellor Appointed as BIR Ferrous Division President

With a career that spans over four decades, Mr Mellor's lifelong immersion in the metal recycling industry is nothing short of remarkable. He boasts an impressive 46 years of expertise, with 43 of those years dedicated to the family business he started alongside his late father.

From his formative years, Mr Mellor has been deeply involved in various aspects of the metal recycling sector, amassing invaluable experience with a global company. His commitment to the industry is further demonstrated by his active involvement with the British Metals Recycling Association (BMRA) for more than twenty years. During this time, Mr Mellor has served at both board and government levels, including a tenure as BMRA President from 2013 to 2015, and has held the position of Vice President since 2015.

Currently, Mr Mellor leads Mellor Metals Ltd. as Managing Director and Shareholder, skillfully managing day-to-day operations and ensuring the seamless integration of the next generation of the Mellor Family into our esteemed family recycling facility.

The decision to appoint Mr Mellor was put forward by the Division’s Nominating Committee and has been met with widespread approval. In his prestigious role as Ferrous Division President, Mr Mellor also serves on the BIR Executive Committee and holds the position of Vice-President within the organisation.

Long-time colleague and BIR President Susie Burrage expressed her delight regarding Mr Mellor's election: "I wholeheartedly welcome Shane's election as Ferrous Division President.
